Get Outside!

By Jenna Levandowski

Stumbling upon a group of grown-ups in the midst of a snowball fight is a seldom sight to see. As we get older, we so easily fall into this concept of “adulthood” where all of a sudden engaging in play is no longer commonplace. There is this idea that you can only play like a kid if in fact you are a child or are in the presence of one.

Earlier this year I was able to visit the Little River School in Canton and converse with a group of enthusiastic students about their love for winter. Regardless of age, I hope that listening to these children awakens your childlike passion to play in your backyard and enjoy the snow. Get out there before it melts!

Jenna is studying Communications and Sociology in the class of 2017 at St. Lawrence University. She grew up spending every Christmas and summer vacation in the Adirondacks and has developed a deep love for the North Country. She enjoys swimming, running, camping, biking, and spending afternoons lying on a blanket outside (weather permitting). Jenna believes that the best medicine can be a walk in the woods and hopes to inspire others to get out and explore the wonderful outdoors.
