Garlic Mustard Pull and Pesto Workshop

Event date and time
May 20, 2017 - 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM

Garlic Mustard, invasive to the North Country, is crowding out native tree and wildflower species in local forests. At Nature Up North, we'd developed a tradition of helping to control its spread by eating it! Join Nature Up North and TAUNY in helping to pull garlic mustard from where it's growing in Canton and take part in the North Country tradition of cooking with the bounty of the land--whether farmed or foraged. We’ll meet at TAUNY for an intro to the ecology of garlic mustard, head over to SUNY Canton where we will pull garlic mustard and bag it for disposal, then we’ll meet back at the TAUNY kitchen for a demonstration on how to turn this invasive weed into a tasty pesto. This event is free, but pre-registration is required. Please contact Emlyn Crocker at ecrocker@stlawu.edu to RSVP. Environmental stewardship never tasted so good!
