Are you curious which invasive species (might) live in your backyard? Join us for our annual Garlic Mustard Pull and Pesto Workshop at TAUNY on Thursday, May 16th. This year, we're expanding to include a brief overview of common backyard invasives in the North Country.

First, join us at TAUNY for short presentation during which you'll learn to identify more than a dozen invasive plants in New York State. Next, we'll drive to a site in Canton to pull garlic mustard for about 45 minutes. Garlic mustard is crowding out native tree and wildflower species in local forests. What's more, it's edible and yummy. We've developed a tradition of helping to control its spread by turning it into pesto! Bring garden gloves if you have them, or borrow some from us! We also recommend closed-toe shoes and comfortable outdoor clothing. For the last hour, we will return to the TAUNY kitchen to make garlic mustard pesto.

There is a $10 suggested donation for this event. Youth 12 and under are free. Please contact Emlyn Crocker at ecrocker@stlawu.edu to RSVP.
