St. Lawrence Land Trust Bird Trip

The St. Lawrence Land Trust is celebrating International Migratory Bird Day with a bird trip around Upper and Lower Lakes WMA, Canton Sat. May 13 7 am – 12 pm led by Michael Greenwald. Some of the birds that breed at Upper and Lower Lakes WMA are bald eagles, common loons, osprey, bobolinks, American bitterns, wood ducks, wild turkeys, mallards, ruffed grouse, and American woodcock. We will carpool to various spots around Upper and Lower Lakes including Indian Creek Nature Center. It is a perfect time of year to be on the trails and looking for birds.

We will meet at the parking lot on Willow Island in the Village of Canton. In the event of heavy rain the trip will be postponed to Sun. May 14. Willow Island is a located on the south side of the bridge crossing the Grass River on Main St. in Canton. We will carpool to various birding spots at Upper and Lower Lakes from there. Bring binoculars, water, bug spray and sturdy shoes for muddy conditions.
