Would you like to learn how to properly plant and care for a tree and make a positive impact in your community? If so, you’re in luck! This fall the Village of Canton will host a tree planting workshop to help improve the urban and community forest at the Bend in the River Park. This event will be an opportunity for the whole family to gain hands on experience with proper tree selection, planting techniques, and how to maintain and care for your tree into the future. After a short educational session lead by Paul Hetzler, Horticulture & Natural Resources Educator from Cornell Cooperative Extension, participants will break into groups and practice their new skills at planting trees in the park. Light refreshments will be served. Come out and help us plant some trees!
Presented by the St. Lawrence County Soil and Water Conservation District in partnership with Cornell Cooperative Extension, The Canton Tree Committee, The Village of Canton Department of Public Works, and the St. Lawrence County Emerald Ash Borer Task Force.
