Wandering off trail to scope out an unknown flower I noticed a well camouflaged white and pink spider. One closer inspection I realized the plant was red baneberry (Actaea rubra). Later in the season these produce bright red berries. I believe the spider is Misumena vatia, commonly called goldenrod crab spider. It was certainly perched to grab any unlucky pollinator attracted to the flower.
