I went out to photograph buds for Nature Up North this evening; these photos are some of the better results. The first picture is the bud of an eastern white pine (Pinus strobus); the second, an American beech (Fagus grandifolia).

Other notes: It was a bit chilly out! Lots of good birds: I saw black-capped chickadees, a white-breasted nuthatch, a red-winged blackbird, some canada geese…and I heard a common grackle and a barred owl!
