North Country explorer from Fremont, New Hampshire
Nature is everywhere, even sometimes in places it maybe shouldn't be. Walking through the arts building today I had an unusual encounter with a bat. I found it lying very still on the floor near the doorway and assumed that it had gotten in by accident and died trying to make its way back out. Much to my surprise, it was not dead at all! With the help of the Nature Up North team we were able to rescue the bat and release it safely outside where it climbed up the nearest tree to continue resting. We think it was a big brown bat, but are not completely certain - comment if you have ideas!

Big brown bat indeed! They are a particularly common visitor to buildings and hence are one of the most frequently encountered bats. Glad you got it safely outside!
