We’re happy to announce we’ve rescheduled Writing to Reconnect for our Thursday Night Campfire on August 3, from 7-9 PM at the Wachtmeister Field Station! We’ll be examining natural elements for the articulate expression of our shared environment and ourselves. Today, the way we often say that it's “too easy” to lose track of time on our phones for hours is similar to how we used to talk about the woods. Let’s reimmerse, reunite and reconnect with our natural surroundings by allowing them to inspire and transport our minds to the page; whether that be presently, through past memories, or in future hopes.
There will be a guided worksheet and method to go about this program but feel free to do what feels most comfortable for you with your writing (you don’t have to strictly follow along)! And a guided packet for those under 12. This is for you to have and to hold for yourself and to strengthen your personal connection to our shared environment.
S’mores are provided, but please bring a book or something to write on. Paper and pens will be provided but, if you so desire, feel free to bring your own journal or favorite pen if you’ve got one!
The Wachtmeister Field Station is located just south of the St. Lawrence University campus on Park St./County Route 27 in Canton. If approaching from Canton Village, it is the first driveway on the left after passing over the wooden bow bridge over the Little River. If approaching from the south, the Field Station is the third driveway on the right after passing Kunoco. Wachtmeister Field Station has a single indoor restroom.
