I was walking through the woods when my dogs started sniffing around a tree. I looked down at a large pile of droppings, and then looked up to see this little guy/girl wondering why they were being disturbed.

Is this the tree on the SLU Kip tract? If so, I've been watching this little gal (or fella). Glad the dogs didn't have a personal meeting.

It was out on one of the Indian River trails. I was very happy they didn't have a direct encounter, either. There may have been one of some sort earlier, because Thor came back during another point on our walk with a single quill stuck in his nose. I will be a bit more vigilant about their trips into the woods when I go there next time. Also, if you're looking for another place for students to collect porcupine signs, this would be a great place!
