North Country explorer from Saranac Lake
Unlike this plantar fasciitis, I will never tire of observing deer coming down to the lake at sunrise for a drink and bath. That distinctive tan color can easily be spotted from afar. They are not as brazen as they were earlier in the summer....when they would stand there looking at me inquisitively...ears upright....wondering exactly what kind of animal my kayak was to be so rudely and noisily interfering with their lake time. I can only imagine how good the cool water must feel on all of the various fly and tick bites they must surely have on areas of exposed skin. At this time of year, once I am detected...either seen or heard...the deer quickly melt into the forest. And over the years I have noticed that once the maples become more flamboyant, the deer no longer take their morning baths at the lake....for it is a time to disappear into fens more protected from the smell of......How did Miranda Lambert put it???....”Gunpowder and Lead”. As every golf course owner knows, foursomes like the one in the photograph bring in the Big Bucks. LOL These four does most likely are in the harem of the magnificent buck I have caught glimpses of on other occasions. If they are not, their scent in his kingdom will get his competitive hormones flowing....and the rut will be on.
