Join local conservationists for a guided walk and talk to learn how you can help protect hemlock trees from an invasive forest pest called hemlock woolly adelgid. We will meet at the Wachtmeister Field Station located on County Rt. 27 in Canton, NY and carpool to Pike Road to the Kip Trailhead. This program will include a hands-on walk component where participants will learn to recognize signs of HWA and report observations using a mobile app, as well as an indoor session with more information about conservation efforts to protect Eastern Hemlock to be held at the Wachtmeister Field Station following the hike.

Visitors are welcome to attend both sessions or just one. This program is presented by Nature Up North, the NYS Hemlock Initiative, and the St. Lawrence Eastern Lake Ontario Partnership for Invasive Species Management. Event organizers prefer that you register for the event and creating a free iMapInvasives user account downloading their mobile app prior will enhance your experience at this event.

This event will be held at the Wachtmeister Field Station, To get there, proceed south down Park St. past the campus athletic fields. The drive will be on the left coming from the SLU campus and right if coming from Route 27.
