North Country explorer from Edwards NY
I spent Columbus Day with a solo kayak trip up the Oswegatchie River (Fine NY) to High Rock. The leaves are well past peak, and the water was REALLY low. I didn't have to carry over anything, but I ran aground several times. The temperature was great considering it's October
This favorite paddle of mine is a 7.25-miles round trip and leaves from the Inlet in Fine NY. I usually like to make the trek with high water, but the Columbus Day tradition has become a thing for me so I paddled on. Hopefully, the high water this spring will clear some of the debris out of the waterway. For the hikers, there is also a trail to High Rock. This is shared with the Cranberry Lake 50.
