Ask A Fairy: Fall Weather brings Fall Fairies!

By Thimble & Blossom

Thimble and Blossom are back on North Country Trails this fall! While they migrate south for warmer weather each winter, Thimble and Blossom stop over for a couple months on our trails to enjoy the fall foliage, tuck in the bears for hibernation, and to answer all of your nature questions! They stopped by Nature Up North to tell us how excited they are to see who can find their homes and to deliver their clues. Visit one of the trails below and follow their clues to find where Thimble and Blossom live! Write a question on the notebook, or scan the QR code on the sign to fill out our form. Thimble and Blossom only hang out until the first sign of snow, so don't wait too long to go looking! The photos are in the same order as the trail clues below.

The Munter Trail

Next to the Raquette River we make our home, so start by Stewarts and get an ice cream cone.

Follow the path turn left, then right. Past the old train testle with a history of Potsdam's might.

Go past the first boardwalk and then you'll see. Our home sits at the base of a large Oak Tree.

Nicandri Nature Center

Start at the visitor's center with all our nature friends. Follow the light-lined path, it will lead you towards the end.

Go past the outdoor classroom where nature learning takes place. Continue down the path, no need to be in haste.

Look left, look right, and keep your search broad. Our house sits on the ground between two mossy logs.

Trail to Huckleberry Lake - Note: this trail is at the end of a dirt road, and the trailhead is 30 feet to the right of the DEC sign (don't go down the logging road)

Thimble and Blossom's home is tucked away. Beside a small, calm pond where the frogs love to play!

This house is farther from town, but it's colored a distinct pink and brown.

Visit the Wolf Lake State Park trailhead that's named after a berry. Here's the coordinates to ensure your journey is merry.

44.31288 degrees North, 75.32843 degrees West

Find the trail 30 feet to the right of the sign along the way you will journey over a small boardwalk,

Sign in at the registration box,

Then head immediately up a hill to follow the trail reaching a small unnamed pond about halfway to the final destination.

On the shore of that pond right off the trail

you'll find Thimble and Blossom's house to leave your mail!

By Thimble & Blossom

Thimble and Blossom are two traveling woodland fairies who love to migrate through the North Country on their way towards the tropical forests where they spend their winter. Thimble loves spending his time exploring the tops of trees and enjoys surfing down the falling leaves in autumn. Blossom likes to spend many of her afternoons befriending bees and butterflies in the forest. She also loves to take dewdrop baths every morning while listening to morning birdsong. Because they live in the woods, Thimble and Blossom have learned a lot about North Country plants and animals throughout the years. They're very excited to share their knowledge with you!
