Join Nature Up North on a fall colors hike on the Stone Valley trail. We'll admire the bright autumn and cascading falls on this approximately 3 mile out and back hike. Along the way, we'll discuss the science behind leaf color change, and what the timing of fall foliage means for forest health.

The trail parallels a scenic stretch of the Raquette River as it drops dramatically through gorges, potholes, and waterfalls. Good walking shoes, a rain jacket, extra water, and a camera are recommended. This hike is great for families and those interested in learning more about North Country forests.

We will meet at the River Street trailhead for Stone Valley in Colton. If traveling from Canton/Potsdam, trailhead parking is on the left after the Colton Hepburn Library. If you cross over the Raquette River you've gone too far.
