Community Water Monitoring and Ecology Walk

Event date and time
July 15, 2023 - 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM

Join Grasse River Heritage for our July Walk in the Park event - a water monitoring and ecology walk at Heritage Park with Nature Up North! We’ll walk the Heritage Park loop and talk about the ecology of the Grasse River - who lives in the river and even in the park itself! Then we’ll work together to collect data for Nature Up North's citizen science project, MOW the Grasse. We'll collect physical observations, (temperature, turbidity and dissolved oxygen), chemical observations (nitrogen, phosphorus, and pH levels) and biological observations (macroinvertebrate and bacteria).

We recommend wearing shoes that you don't mind get a bit wet while collecting water samples. All supplies will be provided. This event is free and perfect for most ages. Youth under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. We’ll meet at Heritage Park in Canton NY at 9:00am. Reach out to grasseriverheritage@gmail.com with any questions.
