Nature Up North Teaches the Teachers!
Let the adventure begin! Once again the NUN crew delivered on their promise to provide relevant and engaging environmental education activities to our area teachers. This year's group of teachers included some veteran's of the NUN program and a couple of newcomers. Participants were engaged throughout the two day workshop in activities such as an Encounter walk at Heritage park, MOWing the Grasse River, Meeting Trees and Monitoring Maples.
NYS has begun the process of rolling out their revised Science Standards (NYSSLS). The learning activities that NUN has crafted are a perfect fit with the demands of the new standards. The best part of the program is the year-long support offered by the NUN team, which includes Erika, Emlyn, Maya, Liz and Molly this year. Their varied environmental interests, expertise and energy make the program engaging and relevant to everyone.
I highly encourage anyone who teaches science, at all grade levels, to look into Nature Up North's programs...and sign up to attend their two day workshop next August!
Thanks for joining us Sue, and for the kind words - looking forward to working with you and your students this year!
