The Thousand Islands Land Trust’s (TILT) Common Tern Nesting Grid Removal with Save the River (STR)
TILT and Save the River need volunteers to help dismantle the gull exclusion grid on Eagle Wing Shoals and Tidd Island. This event is weather dependent - we will call registered participants to confirm the date. Please meet at the TILT office at 8:30 am. Work gloves are recommended and lunch will be provided by Subway of Clayton. The Thousand Islands Land Trust’s (TILT) 3rd Annual TILTKids Camp: Habitat Hikers
For TILT’s 3rd annual Camp, TILTKids will hike different habitats along the Grindstone Island Nature Trail and learn the importance of each for the various animals, insects, plants and trees that live there. Shorelines, shrub lands, grasslands, wetlands and woodlands - all are important in the web of life! Lunch will be provided by Subway of Clayton. TILTKids Camp participants must be accompanied by an adult. Please wear clothing and footwear appropriate for outdoor play. Space is limited, so sign up early. *TILTKids Camp is reserved for TILTKids supporters and has limited space.

Join us for TILT’s now legendary tour aboard motorized “mules,” led by Grindstone resident and TILT Trustee Ken Deedy. We will embark on a fascinating tour of the 4th largest island in the 1000 Islands to learn about the cultural and natural history of the area. *This trek is reserved for TILT supporters and has limited space. Thousand Islands Land Trust’s (TILT) “Big Bug Bonanza” KidsTrek
Kids, parents and grandparents are invited to look closer at the creepy, crawly and cute bugs that call the 1000 Islands home. A variety of activity stations will be featured, including examining bugs under a microscope with Vici & Steve Diehl; creating tie-dyed bandanas using “bug juice” (with the TI Arts Center); learning more about bees and other beneficial insects; and building bug houses - get ready to get buggy! Snack will be provided. KidsTrek participants must be accompanied by an adult. Please wear clothing and footwear appropriate for outdoor play.

Join TILT, Dr. John Farrell and the crew at TIBS for the 4th annual “Fish Scientists for a Day” and learn what it takes to be a fish scientist! Snack will be provided. You’re invited to a memorable evening on the River in celebration of TILT’s 30 years of conservation in the 1000 Islands! Enjoy friends, food, and live music, and support local land conservation and environmental education. TILT is once again looking for volunteers to assist with the annual loon census! The Adirondack Loon Conservation Program collects data from throughout northern New York in order to study trends in the population and implement management efforts if indicated. Please register to volunteer in advance with the TILT office so that we may send you the necessary forms for reporting.
