The Thousand Islands Land Trust’s (TILT) Common Tern Nesting Grid Installation with Save the River (STR)
TILT and Save the River need volunteers to help install nesting boxes and gull exclusion grids on Eagle Wings Shoals and Tidd Island to protect the Common Tern, a NY state threatened species. Throughout the nesting season, volunteers are also needed monitor nests and hatchling success of the Common Tern. Work gloves are recommended and lunch will be provided by Subway of Clayton.
Thousand Islands Land Trust’s (TILT) “Signs of Spring” Trek with Peter O’Shea
Naturalist Peter O’Shea will lead TILTrekkers on a walk through the Macsherry Trail on the Crooked Creek Preserve in Hammond to look for signs of the changing seasons, from wildlife movement to emerging plant life. A treat for anyone interested in nature, or just ready to get out of the house after the long winter! The Thousand Islands Land Trust’s (TILT) Eagle Watch with Gerry Smith
An unique opportunity to join TILT and ornithologist Gerry Smith on a winter hay wagon ride to observe Bald Eagles hunt the waters off T.I. Park. Please dress warmly and wear appropriate footwear. Don’t forget your binoculars! Light refreshments will be served. This TILTrek is in association with Save the River’s Winter Weekend. We will meet at the parking lot next to the Wellesley Hotel.
