Bog River & the overlook
This is my all-time favorite trek in the Adirondacks. The paddle is along the Bog River (Piercefield) from Low's lower dam to the upper. From Hitchens Pond, we hiked to the overlook which gives amazing views of the Bog River basin, the High Peaks and the Horseshoe Lake wild forest. On the paddle out, we spotted a nice bull moose along the water's edge. The leaves are not quite peaked yet, but probably will be within the next week or so. The trips total mileage is about 8.5 miles (boat & boots combined).

Flower flies at Indian Creek Nature Center
Lots of flower flies were out this morning at Indian Creek Nature Center. Many species of flower fly are bee or wasp mimics, and they certainly looked very bee-like as they buzzed around the New England aster.
Autumnal bounty
So grateful that I can still enjoy beauties in my garden. This morning my orange dahlias bloom majestically adorned by rain droplets from last night. My red peppers look so delicious ... what more can I ask on this beautiful day in Potsdam NY?
Timeout
While St. Lawrence University brought in fall 2019 with a power outage, I enjoyed taking this opportunity to step away from electronic technology and went on a walk to appreciate the beauty of nature. Such an amazing breath of fresh air!
Spring Peeper at St. Lawrence!
I saw this Spring Peeper on a window in Bewkes Hall at St. Lawrence University this rainy morning. Maybe he was trying to get some warmth and escape the rain!
